California and Mexican Weddings
Recently we took a trip to California. It was an interesting experience to travel with our child for the first time. I can't say driving with a 9 month old is my favorite thing, but it was fun to have her there once we arrived. On our trip we attended a temple wedding, well, waited outside in the beautiful weather...
After that we had a traditional Mexican lunch with tacos and beans and lots of laughing. We felt like part of the family. We also went to watch the sunset on the beach that night.
The next morning we hung out with all of Jeff's favorite old mission companions, then went to the beach again.
After we showered outside to get the sand off (if you've never done it, I highly recommend it. so invigorating), we attended a huge Mexican reception. Oh my goodness. It was one of the funnest things I have ever done. They had a 12 piece Mariachi band. There were people dancing everywhere, the young, the old, the Mexican... and us. The white people. You can imagine that next to the rhythm gifted Hispanics, we looked ridiculous. But we tried anyway. It was so so so so much fun. Not to mention that Jeff got to hang out with his mission buddies. (Jeff, John Widfelt, David Rasmussen, and missing is Sean Smmerhays and Scott Anderson but they deserve a mention)
Petra also made a friend while we were there, Scott and his wife Corina Anderson's little girl, Samantha. Petra usually just stares at other babies, but she loved Samantha. She laughed and tried to get her attention any time she could see her.
For a two day trip, it turned out to be pretty fun. We reconnected with friends and I can't wait to see them all again!
