evergreen

we had a relief society dinner last night. a tropical theme dinner, outdoors. in the middle of july. it was a bit warm in the afternoon, but as soon as the sun was off it's peak, it cooled off considerably.  good food, good fun. even considering that I was exhausted from staying up till three a.m. the night before making the paper flower cluster bouquets for the center pieces (procrastination, you are a mighty foe...)    a sister gave a short thought on the time she lived in hawaii (26yrs) and gave a beautiful explanation of aloha (hello, goodbye), and ohana (family), and mahalo (thank you) and how when lived, they actually mean much, much more than that. It was actually very touching, and completely inspiring. I am all for adopting these words into the american vernacular.

do I miss arizona this summer? yes. but I have to say, washington summer has been good to me so far. I love that the days actually cool off at some point. and I didn't at first, but now I enjoy daylight that lasts so long, so a walk at 8:30 can be taken in broad day light. the green is incredible. there are actual breezes in the air, to shake the green trees, making the light n' shadow play on my porch enchanting. I am still getting used to the fact that I have to actually check the weather every day, to see what I should wear, the weather changes so much from day to day, but I guess that is something I can live with...
alright, washington, I guess your midterm report is pretty good... you might just win me over after all.

I am so excited to come experience a Washington summer for myself! Only a couple more weeks and I get to play with you and Petra and get out of this stinkin heat. I don't even care what we do. I am just excited to see you guys!

Chels, you did an amazing job on the bouquets. I was a little disappointed when I found out they weren't decorations for my surprise birthday party, but I think I'm over it now. Wait...ok, I'm good. Seriously honey, you're talented.

For the record, Washington summer is kicking the trash out of Arizona summer. If I was "The Bachelor" and they were two of my bachelorettes, I would have kicked Arizona off the first week and proposed to Washington after our first one-on-one date. I wouldn't even have to meet the parents.

I hope yous guys hang up in WA for quite a while. It gives me an excuse to visit.

Jeff, while I've never experienced a WA summer (when I was there it wasn't technically summer), there is still something to be said of an AZ summer. Call me crazy, but somehow I find that 115 degree heat enchanting and alluring. In other words, if I were "The Bachelor," I'd probably end up in an abusive relationship.

Myke -- I don't think it's any secret that people who run marathons are gluttons for punsihment.
