I realized how much that place makes me hate life.
so I decided that I needed a pick-me-up... hence my blog over-haul.
I also changed the address, so hopefully people can still find me...
Despite the stress that comes with it, I love Christmas. I just do. I feel as though life has enough disappointments and discouragements and pains and fears. December I am determined to see the good. Take the celebration when I can. Even if it means temple lights and pizza two nights in a row. Even if it means I buy all my presents instead of make them because I doubt my abilities to do so. Even if it means I put up our two foot fake tree again and use a candle to substitute the scent of a real tree. I love the lights, the presents, the tree. I let myself dance to the Christmas music thats weird and techno while the man stares at me from the car next to me. I rediscover my Sufjan Stevens Christmas set (thanks Myke!). I get excited for Petra and Jeff to open their presents and for me to start explaining them before they even get finished unwrapping them... I love Christmas.
Life is hard enough. I'm taking my holiday for all its worth.
Petra knows what I'm talking about...
(Jeff kept saying it wouldn't be the classic picture if she wasn't crying... I think he pinched her)

wow, i couldn't agree with you more on everything!
i hate super-walmart too, yet i keep going because it's 1 minute from my house.
i wish i could try and see the good every month of the year and not just december, i'd be a much happier person year-round.
i also have a fake tree that i bought from a garage sale three years ago for $10 which has become endearing to us as the time goes on. and i, too, use a candle to pretend it's a real one.
i didn't make one handmade gift this year. not a single one. too much stress and i'm all out of ideas... and i'm okay with that.
it's nice to know that i'm not the only one who feels as though they have to explain their christmas gifts... all of mine usually have some sort of explanation whether they need it or not.
and last but not least, as you already know my daughter hates santa, too.
Such and cute and priceless Santa picture! Did Santa go to your house?
what do you mean, "Even if it means temple lights and pizza two nights in a row"? I would die to eat pizza two nights in a row.
I think the negative tone towards pizza and temple lights two nights in a row was for my sake. Chels felt like she was dragging me because the first night was a date night with her friends and the next was with her family.
No worries honey! Anything for pizza and ranch.
diana - I am glad you explain your presents too. I like to add the "its the thought that counts" part to the present...and get credit for it....
andrea - yeah Santa came to my parents house for our Reed Family Christmas party with all the cousins and such. Poor Santa was on his like, 20th crying kid by that point. Its still cute.
trevvvvv - not gonna lie, I liked the pizza...
jeff - glad to know you were there for the pizza and not you're AWESOME wife.....thanks for coming anyway though.
